On October 3, 1997, nine year-old Sharra Ferger was lured out of her Pasco County, Florida home late at night and found murdered the next day. On the night she was abducted, she was wearing a green T-shirt she often wore to bed. She was stripped from the waist down. Two men then took turns raping her, one viciously biting her shoulder. They also scratched and beat her. She was then stabbed 46 times, 9 times in the head.
Two men were convicted of killing her: Gary Steven Cannon and Gary Elishi Cochran, who Sharra knew as “Uncle Gary”. It was revealed that Sharra cried out many times to “Uncle Gary”, so he stabbed her in the head to silence her.
