Teen Missing for Three Years Found Alive With Registered Sex Offender
A Tennessee teen, missing for more than three years, has been found with a registered sex offender who was arrested December 8, 2008. Sex offender, Jerry Wayne Dunn is at the Johnson City Medical Center where he is being treated for cuts to his wrist in an attempt to commit suicide in his cell on Sunday.
The teen, now 17, is in the juvenile detention center awaiting a court hearing Tuesday morning for his previous runaway charge. The boy disappeared three years ago from Mountain City, Tennessee, at the age of 14.
“I’ve just been awfully worried about him and I didn’t know what had ever happened to him,“ said Lena Greer, missing teen’s grandmother.
The search was extensive including family, sheriff’s deputies, and then featured on America’s Most Wanted.
“Some people called me and said they had seen him,“ said Greer. But it wasn’t until December 3rd that a reliable tip came in regarding the boy.
“The person approached me and asked me if we’re still looking for Jerry Dunn and I told him yes,“ said Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece.
Sheriff Reece was told to look in Louisiana because he may have been arrested there under a different name—Ricky Ray Hicks. He sent a message to all the sheriff’s offices.
“Within five minutes we got a response,“ said Sheriff Reece. Dunn was then arrested in Slidell, Louisiana on traffic charges. He had left Louisiana since and returned to Johnson County.
“He had made contact with his employer down there and wanted money wired to him in Johnson County,“ said Sheriff Reece.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and put a team together of deputies, drug task force, and wildlife resource officers.
“We had enough people where we wanted to make sure he didn’t get away,“ said Sheriff Reece.
Sheriff’s deputies found Dunn and the teen at a house where they were visiting the real Ricky Ray Hicks and his son. Police moved in quickly and took Dunn and the boy into custody.
In 1997, Dunn was convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison for the rape of a child under the age of 13 and has been registered as a violent sex offender. Since 2005, Dunn was wanted for a sex offender registry violation.

New Maddie McCann Book May Spark More Debate
The former investigator on the Maddie McCann case, Goncalo Amaral, has written a new book titled, “Maddie, the Truth About the Lie”. He believes that Maddie did not go missing but died that night in her resort room, accidentally, at the hand of her parents.
The book has sold 180,000 copies in Portugal already but Amaral is looking for a publisher to release the book in other countries.
Personally, I find it ridiculous that THIS man is writing a book about the investigation when he was removed from it in 2007. Amaral believes that the McCann’s over medicated Maddie that night and as a result, she died. Then, alleged by Amaral, her parents hid her body.
All of this is just a bunch of b.s. Publicity was HUGE on this case from the very beginning. How on earth were the McCann’s able to get rid of her body so well that nobody could find her to this day? DNA evidence found in their rented van could not be proven that it belonged to Maddie.
I think Amaral is just pissed off because he was let go of this investigation, rightly so, I might add, and he wants to be able to say what he wants about the case. Well, do you have proof, Goncalo Amaralo, that Maddie did in fact die that night? I’d love to see it.
I think all of this is just a big attention-getter on his part.
The guy is dirty. Anyone can see that.

Search Continues Months Later for Brandon Swanson
The search for Brandon Swanson, 19, of Marshall continued in parts of Lincoln, Lyon and Yellow Medicine Counties near Taunton.
A Saturday search produced no signs or evidence of Swanson, organizer Gary Peterson said. Swanson has been missing since May 14. His car was found in a ditch along the Lincoln and Lyon County border road, near Taunton and Minnesota Highway 68, northwest of Marshall. Swanson is believed to have been along the Yellow Medicine River or nearby bog-like areas when his parents last heard from him on a cell phone conversation that ended abrubtly.
About 70 people searched on Saturday and another 57 were involved as of Sunday morning, organizers said.
Searchers included law enforcement from Lincoln, Lyon and Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Departments, as well as the Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota State Patrol. The agencies search on Saturday and some, today.
Members of the a Civil Air Patrol group also searched today, some members as young as 15 were in Taunton.
Teams of walkers, individuals on all-terrain vehicles and canine cadaver teams were searching this morning.Peterson said teams of searchers on horseback were expected to help this afternoon.
Volunteers and law enforcement used probes and shovels to loosen gravel, sand and dirt in and along the Yellow Medicine River.
While the terrain around the river still has some high grass, downed branches and muddy areas, Lincoln County Sheriff Jack Vizecky said it’s improved since May when the first of multiple searches started.
